Exhibit 6

Poster of Poem

For this portfolio, I made a creative minimalist poster. The poster pays homage to my favorite poet from the last century -- Robert Frost. He was known for taking long walks in nature, which is where many of his poems were formed.  I wanted to incorporate that perspective into this poster somehow but didn't want to overcrowd it at the same time. Nature can be overwhelming with all its idiosyncrasies and distractions, however; I wanted something simpler that gave a hint of a narrative supplement adjacent to the poem itself.

Working with an old classic I wanted to also give it a classical feel. I chose black and white as it is known as a classical look and contains a contrast that bridges the past and modern-day. That relation was really important to me because if a reader or viewer can't connect with the image on a profound level, it loses its effect, and results in being forgotten.

The design itself took on a few iterations until I was satisfied enough to submit. I used a diagonal composition to pose the objects on each quadrant, but yet each quadrant is connected by the other in some way. The footsteps left behind by the mysterious man to the text wrapping around the tree -- it's all interweaved to direct the eye of the viewer through each phase quite pleasantly.

No picture is perfect, and now looking back, something I would change would be the footsteps left behind by the man. Something about them doesn't look realistic. I would shift the angle slightly to give the appearance of uneven footing because nature isn't perfect, it's raw and uneven.  I would also enhance the perspective more than I already did so that the footsteps are noticeably smaller or bigger depending on the distance of the footstep.
