Exhibit 4

Inforgraphic

For Exhibit 4 we were tasked with designing an infographic. I chose to do the infographic on the benefits of broccoli. It's strange to do an infographic on broccoli of all things, but I did it anyway. I chose this because broccoli is my favorite vegetable and I was eating at the time of brainstorming an idea for Exhibit 4.

In the beginning of designing the look of the infographic, I thought it would be clever to place it underground in dirt and have the branches of information or icons be like the roots of the vegetable.

After that, it was easy going. I knew that I had to grab the audience's attention, So I decided on using the color purple alongside the green, as I think it compliments it well. I used the purple to separate the individual pieces of information so that it would be easy to discern when viewing. If I didn't have the purple behind the icons, the image wouldn't feel like individual sections, rather than just jumbled up branches of text and icons.

Working off of the green color of the broccoli, I knew it was a catchy color, so I chose to incorporate it into the text of the graphic. The bright green is an attractive color that really draws the eye towards its direction. This green text made moving from each icon very simple and intuitive. In fact, I wanted to make the branching lines connecting to the icons surround the image of the broccoli-like a clock. This makes exploring the graphic as easy as reading clock-wise.
