Exhibit 2

This exhibit was a struggle for me to do. It wasn't that it was difficult, but rather coming up with the idea took awhile. I went through four other images until I settled on this desert star gazing photo composite.
I didn't want to do a photo that just looked cool, instead, I wanted to make a photo that told a story. For someone like me, who goes camping often, and enjoys stargazing, I thought a landscape photo of the desert with a man watching the stars from a first-person and third-person perspective would create a dynamic photo.
I composited a contrasted luminosity mask on top of an edited photo of a man looking out from a cave. I loved the interior of the cave but didn't like the saturated landscape, so I decided to only focus on the luminosity masking in the cave while omitting the landscape.
I overlayed multiple masks over an image of space. From there, I added the moon and sand dunes to finish the desert night sky. I used the rule of thirds, with the bright part of the sky to direct the eyes of the audience on the man sitting, and from there the moon directly diagonal from him. The choice to use sand dunes is a personal one. I think they're pretty cool and romantic, especially when paired with the night sky.
